Job Title: Physics Teacher, Full-Time
Position Overview
Boys’ Latin seeks a Physics Teacher to focus on the development of scientists and problem-solvers at our high school. This teacher will promote and nurture the education of students by planning and differentiating rigorous courses of study; use inquiry-based methods of teaching that model scientific and engineering processes; monitor, assist with, and correct academic efforts; connect in-class learning with scientists, engineers, and experiences outside of school; create a safe environment conducive to learning; keep family members informed; providing a safe environment conducive to academic learning, risk-taking, and character development; stress rigor with well-designed assessments that challenge students to think critically and creatively.
Duties include:
Revising curriculum according to BL guidelines, national and state standards, and exemplars.
Developing and presenting lessons and learning in a variety of modalities including lecture, Socratic seminar, projects, exhibits, field trips, inquiry-based labs, and guest speakers.
Creating and implementing academically rigorous lessons and assessments.
Demonstrating relentless focus on helping students achieve.
Using data to drive instruction, remediation, and enrichment.
Supporting general and special ed. students in achieving academic success and growth.
Creating a classroom environment that is safe and conducive to learning and risk-taking.
Communicating students’ progress toward realizing academic goals with families.
Conducting benchmark and standardized assessments in accordance with school policies.
Partnering with families and staff to provide academic and emotional support/resources to students.
Sponsoring student activities as part of school’s award-winning Leadership Academy.
Committing to the Expanded Learning Time structure of the school.
Enforcing Student Code of Conduct and serving as a culture keeper for the Boys’ Latin mission.
