Institute for the Study of Civic Values to Host
PhillyBlocks: 2007–The Neighborhood Agenda Conference
September 14th
The Institute for the Study of Civic Values will host its Second Annual PhillyBlocks Conference at the Philadelphia Convention Center, Friday, September 14th, 2007, from 8:00 AM-2:00 PM. The theme will be:
PhillyBlocks 2007: The Neighborhood Agenda
Hundreds of neighborhood leaders, block captains, youth development organizations, and human service agencies attended the PhillyBlocks: 2006
Conference last September, sharing information and ideas with City, School District, and non-profit organizations on the critical challenges facing our neighborhoods: reducing blight and crime, expanding economic opportunity, and improving education and the overall quality of life for our young people.
We intend to provide the same kind of exchange at the PhillyBlocks: 2007 Conference.
And we also intend to spend the summer addressing these issues on our email networks, especially as they relate to our priorities for both the City and the School District as the next Mayor and possibly the next School District CEO take office.
There is great interest among neighborhood activists throughout Philadelphia in shaping the next steps that we all can take to build a strong partnership between community groups, the City government, and our schools in the coming year and beyond.
PhillyBlocks: 2007 will give us all an opportunity to address these issues well before the next Mayor takes office.
More to come…
