Philly Counts Black Male Outreach and Awareness Campaign

Posted by on January 18, 2010

MEE is working with the United Way of Southeastern Pennsylvania to support their Philly Counts Black Male Outreach and Awareness Campaign to motivate undercounted Black male populations in Philadelphia to participate in the 2010 Census.

Because we value your insights and opinion, we are hosting two Chat & Chew information sessions with community stakeholders like you to provide more details and get your valuable feedback on the project.  Organizations that attend the Chat & Chews will participate in a discussion to develop strategies to:

1. Identify key points of entry for various Black male populations;
2. Identify challenges and obstacles/barriers that deter Black males from participating in the Census; and
3. Identify the motivators and culturally-relevant messaging to motivate undercounted Black male populations in Philadelphia to participate in the 2010 Census.

The 90-minute Chat & Chew sessions have been scheduled for:

Tuesday, January 26, 2010
12:30 – 2:00 pm
Kingsessing Recreation Center
4901 Kingsessing Avenue (Corner of 50th & Kingsessing Ave)
Philadelphia, PA 19143

Wednesday, January 27, 2010
12:30 pm – 2:00 pm
Redeemed Baptist Church
2339 N. 31st Street

Snacks and refreshments will be provided. Please RSVP and let us know which session you will be able to attend, so that we will have an accurate head count. Please call Udeme Greens or Christina Upsher at 215-829-4920 to reserve a space. In addition, if you know of others who, because of their work or interests, we should invite to the Chat & Chews, please forward this e-mail invitation to them and pass on their contact information to Udeme ([email protected]) or Christina ([email protected]).

We look forward to seeing you!
