Philadelphian’s Optimistic About Their City.
The Philadelphia Research Initiative of the Pew Charitable Trusts released the results of a new poll revealing how Philadelphia’s citizens feel about their City. Two out of three residents are somewhat concerned about maintaining their standard of living, those surveyed say by 41-34 that the City is headed in the right direction. The optimism demonstrated in this survey is somewhat surprising given that a significant number of respondents have been hit hard by both the recession and the jobless recovery. The Research Initiative’s analysts believe that a significant reduction in city residents’ concern about crime is in large part responsible for the upbeat mood reflected in the analysis. This poll is part of an annual benchmark survey started by the Research Initiative in January 2009.
