Re: Senior Projects
PhilWP is partnering with the Office of Teaching and Learning this fall to offer a new course called, Writing and Research for the High School Senior Project. Ten high schools in the city who have worked with Michelle Grimley and her project called, The Partnerships in Character Education Grant, Senior Project Pilot have been invited to send 1-2 participants for a maximum of 15 people.
If you are a Senior Project coordinator or a teacher who works with juniors or seniors to get the senior projects successfully completed and you teach in one of the schools listed below, please contact PhilWP (215-898-1919, [email protected]) or Michelle Grimley (P: 215.400.5708, F: 215-400-4212, [email protected]) to pre-register for this course. We are very excited to be called upon to lead this course and look forward to working with the district and all of you. The course will be launched on September 19th and will meet on Saturdays bi-monthly during October-December and will culminate in March with a look at student work products to date. An exhibition of student projects will be held in May 2009. This is a continuing education course that yields 1 ceu from Penn, which translates into 3 continuing ed credits and 90 ACT 48 credits within the city and state and many colleges and universities in the region. Tuition will be fully paid by the Partnerships in Character Education Grant.
Here is the list of schools from which we must draw participants. *Note: You do not have to be a member of PhilWP to participate. So, please pass the word to great folks that you know who teach juniors or seniors at these schools. We would like to have full enrollment with a waiting list, if possible.
