Philadelphia Walk Against Hunger
Posted by on March 5, 2007
The Walk Against Hunger is a unique opportunity for emergency food providers to raise funds for their operations. At least 80% of the money teams raise goes directly to beneficiary agencies, helping pay for the expenses of their organizations such as food, transportation, freezers, storage shelving and utilities. In addition, independent walkers can form teams or walk on their own, donating the money they raise to any local food provider of their choice. By participating in the Walk along with these emergency food providers, walkers will meet people on the front lines of hunger relief in Greater Philadelphia.
This year?s Walk Against Hunger will be held on April 14, 2007, with a kickoff at 9:30 am and activities ending by 1:00 pm. The 6-mile route along MLK Drive (formerly West River Drive) begins and ends at the steps of the Philadelphia Museum of Art. Those who would prefer a shorter walk can take the one-mile stroll or catch a bus at the halfway point.
The Walk is a great way to connect and give back to the Greater Philadelphia community. If you are interested in participating in the Walk, call Ashley at (215) 430-0555 or register online at http://www.hungerwalk.org.
