Group seeks math, science professionals to teach in city
The Philadelphia Education Fund’s Philadelphia Teacher Residency (PTR) is asking for help in referring math and science professionals who may want to teach in the city.
PTR is a unique program that provides opportunities for individuals with math and science backgrounds to transition and become classroom teachers in Philadelphia’s high-need schools.
The PTR program includes:
— A year-long residency during which the pre-service teachers are paired with a master teacher in the classroom.
— A rigorous university-based certification program at either Drexel University School of Education or the University of Pennsylvania Graduate School of Education.
— Extensive supports during the residency year and during the first three years as a classroom teacher.
— Membership in a network of education professionals committed to service in Philadelphia’s high needs schools.
