Philadelphia Student Union 15 Year Anniversary

Student Success Center history
In 2002, the student activist group, Philadelphia Student Union, made important strides to bring about progressive change to the traditional school makeup in our city. The group surveyed students throughout the city and found 68% of them do not receive help with personal problems from anyone at school. This finding, along with the interest and momentum already at work to better coordinate developmental, college and career services by the Philadelphia School District and other stakeholders, led to the creation of Student Success Centers. *
Students from the Philadelphia Student Union helped design the early Success Centers with the hope that SSC would be places where students are treated in a holistic way.
This is just one of the many ways in the Philadelphia Student Union’s 15 year history that organized, passionate and knowledgeable students have improved the learning experience for Philadelphia high school students.
On June 1st from 6-8pm at FACTS charter school the Philadelphia Student Union is celebrating its 15 year anniversary. Join the students, staff and alumni of the Philadelphia Student Union as we reflect on our past and look forward to the future.
To show appreciation to all the people working hard inside of Philly’s schools we’re offering a discount to all school staff. We hope to see you on the first!
