Philadelphia STEM Ecosystem – AmeriCorps Vista
Posted by Philadelphia Education Fund on January 8, 2019
The Philadelphia STEM Ecosystem is one of 63 national STEM Ecosystems, supported by the STEM Funders Network and based on a collective impact model. The purpose of the STEM Ecosystems is to facilitate coordination, communication, and collaboration around STEM education to optimize student impact. These 63 STEM Ecosystems participate in virtual and face-to-face communities of practice, are invited to special meetings and webinars, and receive training and customized technical assistance.
The overarching goal of the Philadelphia STEM Ecosystem is to increase collaboration within, reduce duplication of, identify gaps in, and promote access to STEM education. As the backbone organization, the Philadelphia Education Fund oversees a 10-member Steering Committee; 6 robust Workgroups; and over 250 members representing schools and school districts, intermediaries and community-based organizations, museums and environmental centers, colleges and universities, government agencies, and businesses and corporations.
The Philadelphia STEM Ecosystem AmeriCorps VISTA will help manage the Philadelphia STEM Ecosystem. Responsibilities will include: maintaining the website; overseeing Member communications; scheduling and taking minutes at Workgroups meetings; gathering and disseminating STEM resources and opportunities; implementing and analyzing the results of a systemic evaluation; and participating in related tasks.
STEM Ecosystem Vistas must have excellent verbal and written communication skills; be organized and reliable; be comfortable working alone and with a team; and have an interest in and passion for STEM education. AmeriCorps Vistas will receive a stipend as well as health, childcare, and tuition benefits. Moreover, our Vista will be an active participant in cutting edge STEM education on a local, regional, and national level.
