Responsibilities:
• Provide GED students’ employment support services, in conjunction with PHA administration, designed to get participants thinking about opportunities beyond the classroom.
• For GED class participants, who complete training and are unable to gain employment, work with PHA to ensure those participants receive more intensive job placement services through goal-setting.
• Meet with learners to provide case management services, to include on-going structured and documented individual educational, economic, personal, and career counseling. Maintain documentation on same.
• Develop and maintain working relationships with the County Assistance Office, the Office of Vocational Rehabilitation, the PA CareerLink, post secondary education and training partners and local community and faith-based organizations to further assist direct service staff and learners in accessing resources.
• Collaborate with instructional staff and partnering agencies to ensure compliance with outcome measures.
• Develop and present workforce and post-secondary transition workshops to learners and instructors.
• Facilitate group learner case management sessions during orientations, train instructors to facilitate group learner case management orientation sessions.
• Support Instructors and Coordinators in meeting student retention and other benchmarks.
• Attend meetings, as appropriate.
• Submit reports, as deemed appropriate.
• Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
• BA in education or related field required; Masters degree preferred
• Experience working with working adults in an educational/vocational environment required
• One year experience providing educational, career, and personal counseling in an adult education setting preferred
• Knowledge of Philadelphia area post-secondary institutions required.
• Knowledge of skills and job requirements for various job titles within the Philadelphia area required
• Must be a team worker and problem solver
• Must have excellent written, communication, organizational and interpersonal skills
• Must be computer literate.
• Current Act 34 and child welfare certificates of clearance required
• Must be goal oriented with strong time management skills.
Reports to: Program Manager for Fee-for-Service Programs
Job Classification: part-time, exempt
Salary: $20 per hour
Schedule: 15 hours per week – direct service; 5 hours for prep, travel and meetings
