Philadelphia Cares Day Serve-a-Thon

Saturday, October 2, 2004

In one day, you can make a world of difference…

Join Greater Philadelphia Cares, in partnership with the School District of Philadelphia, as we host the 11th annual Philadelphia Cares Day, a marathon day of service that gives our children attractive and more functional learning environments. 150 schools will benefit from fresh coats of paint, refurbished libraries, landscaped green spaces, restored playground equipment, and much more. As one of 12,000 volunteers, you will help contribute 60,000 volunteer hours in just one day!

This serve-a-thon raises critical funding for our year-round programs and events. Our success has always been fueled by generosity that comes from within our network of volunteers and community partners, and every penny counts. Pledges will enable Greater Philadelphia Cares’ volunteers to:

*Expand the horizons and self-confidence of children by teaching them to read;
*Rejuvenate neighborhoods ravaged by urban blight; and
*Bridge the widening technology gap in underserved communities.

So, celebrate your commitment to safeguarding our children and the places where they learn by signing up today! For more info and to register, go to http://pcd2004.kintera.org/faf/home/default.asp?ievent=59179. You can also contact Greater Philadelphia Cares at 215-564-4544 or jisu@philacares.com.

The registration deadline is Wednesday, September 22nd. To ensure the timely delivery of your project site, you are strongly encouraged to sign up by this date. We will accept registrations after this date and the day of the event, but please note that you will not receive your site assignment until the morning of the event.
