Philadelphia Cable Television Survey
Posted by PhillyCAM on January 31, 2023
PhillyCAM, the city’s public access television, needs community input! The City of Philadelphia is gathering information about community needs from local residents regarding cable television service through a residential survey. Anyone can complete it whether you subscribe to Verizon Fios or not.
Cable companies pay franchise fees to municipalities and provide facilities, equipment, and channel capacity for local Public, Educational, and Government (PEG) Access channels. Thousands of local channels (including PhillyCAM) have been set up across the country as a result of this structure.
As a city of 1.5 million residents, let Verizon know you think everyone deserves access to media training, affordable production services, and media literacy education. This is how we prevent corporate monopolies from taking away our access to public resources. Please respond by saying how much we need PhillyCAM.
PhillyCAM is asking Philadelphians to help ensure public access TV’s future by filling out a short government-issued survey.
Deadline to complete the survey is February 10th.
