Celebrating National Service in the City of Philadelphia
AmeriCorps Week will be recognized in the City of Philadelphia during the week of March 30 – April 5. Click on our events page to see how you can be a part of the celebration!
Tuesday, April 1: 2nd Annual Mayor’s Day of Recognition for National Service
The 2nd Annual Mayor’s Day of Recognition for National Service will feature a 4:00 pm award ceremony at City Hall, during which Mayor Nutter will present the Mayor’s Award of Recognition for Outstanding National Service.
The ceremony will be immediately followed by a Happy Hour celebration beginning at 5:00 pm at Field House.
Wednesday, April 2: AmeriCorps Professional Development Day
AmeriCorps Professional Development Day will take place from 10:00 am to 2:30 pm in the School District of Philadelphia auditorium. Registration for this event will begin at 9:00 am. A photo i.d. is required for entry.
This event will feature interactive workshops facilitated by executive-level professionals from the region’s corporate, non-profit, and public sectors. There will also be a networking reception and resource fair with recruiters, distinguished AmeriCorps Alumni, VIPs, and honored guests.
Business cards, resumes, and cover letters are encouraged!
Thursday, April 3: AmeriCorps Happy Hour
We invite current members, local Alumni, and program staff to join us for this networking event, from 5:00 pm – 8:00 pm at Howl at the Moon.
This event will feature free admission, free food, drink specials, and live entertainment, as well as the chance to network with other corps members and spread awareness with the public about AmeriCorps.
Friday, April 4: Rep Your AmeriCorps Day
Wear your AmeriCorps gear and be a walking billboard for your organization wherever you are serving! Take pictures with fellow corps members and share via FB and Twitter using our AmeriCorps Week hashtags.The overall tone is to represent and be an advocate for national service in Philadelphia!
Saturday, April 5: AmeriCorps Service Saturday
AmeriCorps will join the Philly Spring Clean-Up in specifically-selected sites around the city.
