You are invited to attend:
Just Act’s “People’s State of the Union” Story Circle Event
Thursday, January 28, 2016 from 6:30 PM – 9:00 PM
Just Act, in partnership with U.S. Department of Arts and Culture invites you to join us for THE PEOPLE’S STATE OF THE UNION, on January 28 @ 6:30 pm.
If you joined Just Act for our launch event in December, you experienced the power of story circles, our unique way of gifting back stories, and collectively imagining how we can make change today instead of waiting for it to happen tomorrow.
What an amazing night that was for all of us. Many of you asked when our next event would be held, others breathlessly told us that we should hold these story events every month. Some of you invited us to meet with you to discuss future collaborations using our story and theatre-based techniques.
We listened to you and are responding in kind.
This month, we are joining our USDAC partners across the country to host an evening of story circles to reflect on our country’s state of the union.
Just Act, in affiliation with the U.S.Department of Arts and Culture, invite you on January 28th @630pm, to play a role in creating the “People’s State of the Union.”
Summit Presbyterian Church
6757 Greene Street, in the “Common Room”
Philadelphia, Pennsylvania 19119
Once a year, the President delivers the State of the Union address to highlight important national issues and suggest priorities for the year to come. It’s a broadcast from one to many. But what if, once a year, at least, we could all speak and listen to each other?
From January 23-31, 2016, people across the USA will come together through story circles to reflect on the current state of our union.
Stories will be shared back online, inspiring commentary from the USDAC National Cabinet, and the creation of the Poetic Address to the Nation by a diverse group of poets. This address, delivered as a poem, livestreamed and shared online via text and video.
Democracy must be a dialogue, not a monologue.
Please join Just Act at our People’s State of the Union event.
