Pennsylvania Dropout Prevention Network
Summit White Paper #2
On May 2nd, The PA Dropout Prevention Network hosted the first statewide summit focusing on the dropout crisis in Pennsylvania. The Summit was the culmination of 12 months of effort by many people to create the network and begin the important outreach to numerous stakeholders. During the first year, PaDPN hosted several webinars that attracted over 800 attendees, conducted 6 focus groups across the Commonwealth that led to a white paper on youth attitudes towards dropping out of school and hosted the aforementioned Summit with over 160 leaders in attendance.
Co-Chaired by Welfare Secretary Bev Mackereth and Judge Dwayne Woodruff, PaDPN is excited about our next steps. Attached please find a brief summary of discussion items and feedback from the Summit along with some recommendations for moving forward. PaDPN was founded as a mechanism to bring together educators, policy makers, community members and educational organizations to better communicate, collaborate and coordinate a response to insure that Pennsylvania sees significant reductions in the number of dropouts in the years ahead.
Thank you for your continued support.
