Pathways to Impact, Volume Two
Posted by National Youth Leadership Council on December 16, 2025
The National Youth Leadership Council (NYLC) is pleased to share “Pathways to Impact, Volume Two.” This new report highlights how state-level support and system-level strategies can strengthen the quality of service-learning in afterschool programs.
Since 2017, NYLC has partnered with 16 State Afterschool Networks to integrate service-learning through trainings, curricula, coaching, grants, and resources. This volume showcases the second cohort of networks (2023–25) and examines how they leveraged service-learning to increase youth engagement, amplify youth voice, and build leadership across communities. Building on insights from the first volume published in 2023, this one provides updated lessons, new network profiles, and actionable recommendations for states seeking to expand and scale service-learning. By centering on youth and strengthening systems, networks can enhance program quality, empower young people to effect real-world change, and amplify their impact across communities.
