Partnering for Success: The Keys to Effective Service-Learning
October 23-24, 2009
Medaille College
A service-learning conference with individual presentations, community based workshops, panel discussions and poster or visual presentations that highlight best practices in local, regional, national, and/or international service-learning partnerships.
The Western New York Service-Learning Coalition defines service-learning as an educational experience that goes beyond volunteering. Service-learning connects students to the community by integrating academic curriculum with active participation in service, offering structured opportunities for students to reflect on their experiences, and striving to ensure that the service placements are mutually beneficial to students, the organizations, and the community as a whole.
The goal of this conference is to bring faculty, community partners and service-learning administrators together to discuss and reflect on effective service-learning partnerships that meet community identified needs while enhancing student learning.
Through this conference you can:
* Learn from knowledgeable educators and community based leaders about strategies for effective service-learning management and implementation.
* Network with others experienced in service-learning and dialogue about the successes and challenges of service-learning partnerships.
* Get inspired about all the possibilities and opportunities service-learning has to offer!
Co-sponsored by the Western New York Service-Learning Coalition and Medaille College.
