Part-time Research Assistant, Connecting Latinos en Pareja

Connecting Latinos en Pareja (CLP) at Temple University is seeking a team-oriented, high energy, and self-motivated part-time Research Assistant. CLP is an HIV prevention research study targeting Latinx men who have sex with men (MSM). CLP is a sex-positive, culturally responsive, and linguistically appropriate intervention designed to address Latinx MSM, a population disproportionately affected by HIV. The CLP team is led by Dr. Omar Martinez, Assistant Professor of Social Work within the College of Public Health. CLP is funded by a grant from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).
The research assistant will be responsible for recruiting participants through various strategies including social media campaigns, telephone outreach, and in-person engagement. In addition, the research assistant will contribute to data collection by conducting computer-based interviews with participants. Please note that this position is paid and available for the summer with an opportunity for longer-term employment.
Required Education and Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree in public health, anthropology, sociology or a related social science discipline.
- Working knowledge of and experience with social science research methodologies.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and outreach skills, with the ability to initiate relationships with diverse community members.
- A sex-positive, nonjudgmental and outgoing personality.
- Ability to dedicate 15-20 hours/week across at least 3 days/week with some degree of flexibility (i.e. some evening and weekend hours).
Preferred:
- Bilingual (English and Spanish) communication skills.
- Direct experience working with Latinx and/or LGBTQ communities.
- Strong interest in HIV/AIDS prevention and treatment.
