Predatory lending has captured headlines across the country in recent years. This issue particularly concerns CDFIs, who work to build wealth and assets in the same markets targeted by abusive lenders. Log on to this special VLC Panel to learn about how CDFIs are responding to this challenge. Leading organizations will share their experiences with financial, educational, and political solutions and ways that CDFIs can lead efforts to promote responsible subprime lending.

The three panelists will talk about industry leading work being done by their organizations: Ronda Porras of Alternatives Federal Credit Union http://www.alternatives.org/, Catherine Gill of SEEDCO http://www.seedco.org/, and Dave Beck of Self-Help http://www.self-help.org/

You will learn approaches and program models that can be replicated across regions and discuss this challenging economic issue with your peers as well as the panelists. The program will be held December 16 from 1:00 to 3:00 EST over the Internet and phone conference. The cost for enrollment in this program, which is supported by the Ford Foundation is $25.
