Position Title: PACTS Workshop Coordinator – First Lego League

Summary/Objective: Responsible for the oversight of the PACTS FIRST® LEGO® League (FLL) team. You will act as a team coach to help students prepare for competitions, ensuring compliance with the FLL program requirements.

Essential Functions

  • Facilitate weekly practice sessions to prepare students for competitions, including robot performance, project presentation, and core values judging.
  • Guide students in brainstorming, designing, building, and programming a LEGO robot using the LEGO Mindstorms or SPIKE Prime platform.
  • Help students establish and follow a project timeline leading up to competitions, ensuring milestones are met.
  • Stay updated on all aspects of the FLL Challenge, including core values, robotics missions, and project guidelines.
  • Chaperone field trips
  • Assist with special TFI programs & events

Non-Essential Functions

  •  Development of workshop curriculum

Additional eligibility requirements

  • Availability on Saturday’s from 9:00 AM – 2:00 PM
  • This role is based on-site at The Franklin Institute
  • Possible field trips where days may run before/after normal hours

Required/Preferred Education and Experience

  • Familiarity with robotics platforms (e.g., LEGO Mindstorms, SPIKE Prime) or programming languages (e.g., Scratch, Python) is a plus.

Required Competencies

  • Classroom management and teaching skills, particularly with middle school students, either in a formal or informal setting
  • Collaborative and oral communication skills are essential
