PACDC Conference Programming Spotlight: Urban Land Institute (ULI) Philadelphia’s UrbanPlan for Communities Workshop – Oct 5

Posted by Philadelphia Association of CDCs on September 20, 2022

Looking to better understand the real estate development process?

UrbanPlan for Communities is a workshop that engages local community development professionals and leaders who would like to learn more about the challenging issues, roles, tradeoffs, and economic choices that shape our built environment, and the important roles residents can play in land use decisions in their neighborhoods.

This is a space-limited, full-day workshop taking place on the first day of the conference (Wednesday, October 5)

Get your tickets today and remember to reply to  the follow-up registration details email to sign up for a spot!!

Participants will gain a deeper understanding of how the built environment is shaped and adopt roles as part of competing developing teams responding to a hypothetical city-issued request for proposal (RFP). Teams will put together both a physical site plan and a financial pro forma that meets the hypothetical RFP’s objectives and community’s interests, culminating in a final presentation to a mock City Council, made up of ULI Philadelphia members.

ULI member volunteers will also meet with the teams during the planning process to provide feedback on the proposals. At the end of the workshop there will be a real-life case study presented by a local Philadelphia developer to spur discussion about how the concepts introduced in UrbanPlan are impacting local neighborhoods. This workshop will be taught by a trained ULI instructor.
