PA Community Drug-Abuse Prevention Grant
Posted by Office of the PA Attorney General on April 15, 2025
PA Attorney General Dave Sunday wants to remind Pennsylvania schools that the Office of Attorney General has the Community Drug-Abuse Prevention Grant (CDAP) program as a resource for funding to keep youth safe and drug-free.
Events and programming covered by CDAP grants are wide ranging, and could include everything from pre-prom safety assemblies to post-prom parties that create a safe space with alternatives to drinking and drugs.
The CDAP grant is administered by the Office of Attorney General in an effort to empower parents, schools and community groups to fight back against the harm caused by drug and alcohol abuse through grassroots efforts that fit the needs of children and young adults in their communities.
This funding is meant to help communities provide safe alternatives to drug and alcohol abuse, as well as fact-based education, prevention or intervention efforts related to drugs and alcohol – including violence and other consequences these substances can cause.
What does that mean for schools? CDAP grants can cover the costs of rental facilities, entertainment, decoration, third-party security, food or almost anything else associated with the cost of a successful post-prom party. Although we cannot reimburse items already paid for, the CDAP grant can cover remaining balances.
Quick Facts:
- Groups/PTOs that do not have non-profit status can request up to $2000
- Nonprofit organizations, government agencies, and schools can make requests above $2000
- Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis, but any application intended for prom activities should be submitted as soon as possible.
- After applying, OAG requires quotes or invoices from vendors for all items to be purchased with grant funds. The grant coordinator will contact you to help you through the process.
- Interested in the CDAP grant? You can apply at the CDAP Grant Program webpage.
