PA Commission for Women Requests Nominations for Role Model Book
Friday, October 29, 2004 – WOMENS WAY
Melissa Weiler Gerber, Executive Director of WOMENS WAY and a Commissioner for the PA Commission for Women, is soliciting nominations for the PA Commission for Women’s Role Model Book.
The mission of the PA Commission for Women is to identify and advance the diverse needs and interests of PA women and girls; to inform, educate and advocate for its constituents; and to provide opportunities to empower women and girls to reach their highest potential. In keeping with that mission, the PA Commission for Women will produce a hard back role model book featuring renowned and successful African-American and Latina women across the the Commonwealth who have excelled in diverse fields. Young girls in these communities have a critical need for visible role models; this book will help fill that need. The goal will be to distribute the book to libraries in every county and public elementary school across the state.
