PA Bar Law Day booklet
Posted by on February 17, 2006
The new PBA Law Day booklet is now available. You can order copies at http://www.pabar.org/06ldinformation.shtml as well as get downloads there of all of the lessons. From the opening letter from PBA President Bill Carlucci extolling Judge Rendell and her PennCORD push for civic learning to the description in the introduction of the Civic Mission of Schools, this is a wonderful example of the partnership that exists through PennCORD working effectively. There are lessons by PennCORD partners (including a wonderful lesson by Anne Spector with Philadelphia Reads) and there is also a link at the end of the booklet to PennCORD as a resource for teachers and others. The PBA will distribute 8000 hard copies of this booklet and thousands of more booklets will be downloaded, copied and shared. The Law Day booklet has been a fixture of the PBA for many years but this shows how an established program of one of the partners can be enhanced by and give support to the PennCORD partnership. Among the interesting lessons are a lesson on the Supremes (from Diana Ross to John Roberts) and Civil Gideon (They may tell you on the tv shows that you have a right to a lawyer, but…).
