The Schuylkill Center’s Teen Adventure Camp is an environmentally focused program that strives to involve young people in outdoor adventure and environmental stewardship. These week long programs offer pre-teens the opportunity to participate in activities that will challenge them both emotionally and physically. We are seeking highly motivated, energetic leaders to plan adventure based outdoor activities for students between the ages of 10 and 12. Educators will plan and facilitate activities and lessons that align with a weekly theme. The first half of the week is spent on the campus of The Schuylkill Center in a day camp setting. The second part brings participants to various locations in the Mid-Atlantic region to spend 1 to 2 nights camping out. Duties include: leading teambuilding activities, supervising outdoor recreation activities, plan and teach environmental education classes in an engaging manner, plan portions of the trips, maintain camping equipment, maintain specialized outdoor education equipment, lead or assist hikes, lead 1 to 2 day camp outs, participate in outdoor adventure activities such as biking, rafting, climbing, caving and fishing as needed.
Requirements: Associate or Bachelor’s Degree or major in Environmental Science, Education, Biology, Botany or related field; must be comfortable outdoors and familiar with outdoor recreation and natural sciences; experience camping and planning camping trips; capable of supervising teens; First Aid/CPR Certified – Wilderness First Responder/Aid preferred.
Base Salary: $4,400 – $4,800/summer depending on experience (10 weeks beginning on 6/13)
