POSITION: OST PROGRAM ASSISTANT DIRECTOR

Catholic Social Services is looking for an energetic and organized Program Assistant Director to manage and supervise an After School Program that includes an Afterschool Program & Summer Camp at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic School (1719 Morris Street, Phila, PA 19145).

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

This position is responsible for the overall management, supervision and academic enrichment implementation at the program. Duties include daily on-site availability, training and supervision of PT Group Supervisors, Group Leaders, Consultants/Specialists, Youth Workers and Volunteers. Assistant Director will collaborate with Program Director, who is responsible for program development, implementation and evaluation as well as fiscal oversight and management. Program Director engages parents, parish school, and community in special events, and serves as the liaison to Parish and school administration/teachers and funders.

ADMINISTRATIVE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Adheres to all CSS Policies and Procedures
  • Attends bi-weekly CSS OST Assistant Director Meetings, and other required / pertinent meetings / trainings scheduled through United Way, PHMC, DPW, Keystone Stars and PA Department of Education.
  • Assists in acquiring DPW Licensure for child-care facility and Keystone Stars in pursuit of subsequent star levels when appropriate.
  • Facilitates weekly on-site academic enrichment classes, preparing lesson plans, staff assistance, and appropriate follow-up.
  • Communicates any program changes/shifts to all staff, parents and stakeholders.
  • Assistance with supervision of staff includes the recruitment, hiring, orientation and routine evaluation of staff members.
  • Ensures that the program is effectively utilized by participants and is responsible for the on-going recruitment and registration process of children as well as orientation process for children and parents.
  • Establishes and maintains effective relationships with Parents, Principals, and Teachers of partner school for continued progress in producing academic outcomes for students. Maintains effective relationships with fellow CSS Program Directors, supervisors, and Community Organizations.
  • Responsible for timely submission of reporting and data entry to adhere to PHMC requirements
  • Helps to manage fees for service billing for CCIS and Keystone Stars once established.
  • Assists in planning for facility maintenance in conjunction with host school or site.

PROGRAMATIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Ensures the planning and implementation and development of age-appropriate curriculum that includes Project Based Leaning (PBL) and academic enrichment clubs that fall in line with the PA Common Core Standards. This also includes the incorporation of youth leadership and development into programs.
  • Attends routine school planning sessions to develop academic enrichment / leadership activities that yield outcomes for students.
  • Develops brochures and other outreach materials for the programs. This also includes speaking engagements and information for CSS OST Website and Facebook Page.
  • Assists in seeking out new program initiatives and funding sources.
  • Other tasks and duties as assigned.

REPRESENTATIVE KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:

  • Enthusiastic and passionate about working with children.
  • Knowledge of and orientation to philosophy and mission of the agency.
  • Bachelor’s Degree or Masters Degree in Education (preferably in Early Childhood or Elementary Education) with a minimum two years experience working with children.
  • Knowledge of Pennsylvania Common Core Standards for school aged youth.
  • Strong and effective communication skills.
  • Ability to organize, efficiently document, and routinely update information.
  • Ability to establish and maintain a positive and professional relationship with co-workers, children, parents, Pastors,
  • Principals, Supervisors and Administrators. This person should be culturally sensitive and have the ability to relate well and effectively in a diverse, fast paced environment with a diverse client population is required.
  • Ability to manage purpose and vision of the program is essential.
  • Ability to multi-task and be flexible to meet program needs is required.

SALARY AND BENEFITS

$32,000-35,000
