City launches new out of school time website
The City of Philadelphia has launched a new website detailing its efforts to build an Out-of-School Time “system of systems” with support from the Wallace Foundation, United Way of Greater Philadelphia and Southern New Jersey and the William Penn Foundation. The website is available here.
The website will connect project partners, afterschool and/or OST program providers and afterschool and/or OST participants with current information about the status of the three-year project to coordinate all citywide afterschool and OST programs into a system of systems.
Thomas Sheaffer, OST System of Systems Fiscal Director and Project Lead said, “The OST Systems-Building Project promises to have positive impacts on afterschool programming throughout the city. Therefore anyone involved in such programs, especially those operating them, would be well-served by participating in the Project’s planning and, at the very least, being informed of its progress by visiting the website on a regular basis.”
Philadelphia was one of nine cities selected for a Wallace Foundation grant in May 2011 to create a citywide afterschool system focused on improving program quality, developing a reliable information system and coordinating all programs that serve K-12 youth in Philadelphia.
