Organizer, Ceasefire Pennsylvania

Ceasefire Pennsylvania is seeking an organizer to develop grassroots and grasstops support in Pennsylvania for preventing gun violence from September 1, 2013 to August 31, 2014.

The organizer will:

●  Engage existing community groups, both faith and secular (particularly those that have a “neighborhood watch” or “public safety” component) by attendance at and participation in regular meetings and events

●  Direct a canvassing program including managing advocacy materials, enlisting volunteers to canvass neighborhoods and groups with which they are affiliated, creating and processing data from knocks

●  Meet with local elected officials supportive of our work (mayors, commissioners, district attorneys) and law enforcement to help identify other community leaders that should be engaged

●  Attend as many community events as possible to become a neighborhood presence, gain name recognition and trust, and enlist volunteers

●  Sponsor and co­sponsor repeated, consistent community meetings of all types ­­vigils, public forums, rallies, marches, and information sessions­­ devoted to the issues of gun violence and gun violence prevention

●  Empower community members to take a stand against gun violence through participation in events, forums, canvassing and advocacy initiatives

Qualifications:

* Prior organizing experience.
* Time management skills: Ability to manage multiple projects successfully. * Ability to work independently, show initiative, and self­-motivate.
* Digital media and public relations skills.
* Excellent writing skills.
* Must have car, laptop and phone.

Compensation: $2,700/month salary plus benefits and certain expenses.
