Organizations needed for Civic Opportunities Fair
Posted by on June 15, 2009
The Pennsylvania Coalition for Representative Democracy invites Southeastern Pennsylvania community organizations and businesses to participate in our first ever Civic Opportunities Fair for Students.
On October 12, 2009 (Columbus Day), the National Constitution Center in historic Philadelphia will host an expo of agencies that engage students in their communities.
Sign your organization up to attend so that students in our region can learn about what you have to offer, whether it is through activities, volunteer work, community service, internships, part-time jobs, or other ways for students to get involved as active citizens.
Research shows a need for this service. A poll taken at the Philadelphia Youth Commission’s Mayoral Forum on February 18, 2009, showed that the major concern of 200 Philadelphia students was what to do when faced with the threat of recreation center closings and the scarcity of part-time work during the economic downturn. The Civic Opportunities Fair will be a chance to show teens that there are numerous ways to get involved in the community in ways that are enriching and worthwhile.
Reply with your commitment to participate in this opportunity to serve Pennsylvania students by July 17. You may reach us at 215-409-6684 or at [email protected].
