Operations Director, Roxborough Development Corporation

We are looking for someone who will be responsible for the day-to-day operations of the organization and who will assist the Executive Director with grant writing, fiscal management, and program development. The ideal candidate is a positive, high-energy, committed, versatile, and solution-oriented person with the customer service skills necessary to work collaboratively with a diverse group of stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

The Operations Director will provide critical support to the RDC interacting directly with current as well as prospective stakeholders, and will assist staff with the RDC’s expanded portfolio of programs. This position will also work very closely with the RDC’s Executive Director to execute the organization’s five-year strategic plan, Roxborough 2020. Below is a list of activities that reflect current thinking. It is anticipated that this list will be refined and prioritized over time with the person in this position.

• Oversee day-to-day operations including: contracting, facilities and personnel management, telephone systems and stakeholder relations.
• Identify and solicit funding and sponsorship from various agencies including Government, Foundations, and Corporations. Write grant proposals and implement grant calendar to ensure that reports are submitted on time and adhere to the grants’ stipulations.
• Cultivate positive relationships with volunteers and leaders from a variety of community organizations. Serve as a resource for residents and business owners.
• Handle RFP’s for construction projects, signage, and holiday decorations.
• Oversee external communications e.g., a monthly e-newsletter that will require developing the annual schedule, identifying possible topics to vet with staff, identifying targets for segmented messaging, writing and layout, overseeing distribution, analyzing, planning targeted follow-up.
• Identify and monitor neighborhood press content for emerging topics in discussion forums, analyze trends, and suggest content for external communications.
• Develop, support, organize and manage special events such as the annual Roxtoberfest and Roxborough Solstice Music Festival.
• Coordinate the stakeholder follow-up process led by staff.
• Help RDC staff prepare for committee meetings, e.g., conduct targeted research, prepare slide presentations.
• Facilitate standing meetings with staff to review status of program activities and confirm next steps.

Education

Bachelor’s degree is required, with some experience in non-profit management or community development preferred.

Work Experience

At least 3 years previous work experience in related activities, such as a program management or operations position.

Reporting Relationship
Reports to the Executive Director.

Compensation
Competitive based upon experience and education.
