Philadelphia VIP, the hub of pro bono in Philadelphia, recruits, trains, and supports volunteer attorneys who provide free legal services to low-income clients.
Philadelphia VIP seeks a highly motivated, detail oriented, dependable intern to join our Operations/Development team. Our team leverages cutting edge technology to operate its enterprise and advance its mission. Philly VIP is a collegial, team-oriented workplace. The team works day to day with technology and information systems, case management, volunteer and client services, fundraising, special events, facilities operations, human resources, and finance. Our interns gain “hands on” experience in these areas.
The Operations/Development Intern will:
Support development and operational projects and functions of a nonprofit law firm, including special events, training sessions, clinics, and fundraisers.
Professionally greet and assist visitors, clients, volunteer attorneys, and staff.
Process new cases, clients, and volunteers using leading edge systems for case management and volunteer information.
Help manage office technology, systems, software, and equipment.
Update, extract, and analyze data on cases, donors, and volunteers for effective program evaluation, communications, and fundraising initiatives.
The ideal Operations/Development Intern will possess:
Strong organization skills and keen attention to detail and accuracy. Prior success in an office setting (highly desirable).
Commitment to providing excellent “behind the scenes” operational support to a high-profile nonprofit serving low income Philadelphians. Sensitivity to poverty issues and strong interest in access to justice. Experience working with low-income clients a plus.
Aptitude and appreciation for technology, including a working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, including Microsoft Word, Excel and Access.
Good communication with diverse constituents. Spanish or other language skills are a plus.
Ability to commit to base of 12 hours weekly (during school year; 20 in summer) will receive preference, as will candidates who can continue into new semesters or summer sessions.
