Seeking Qualified Operations Assistant for Young Scholars Frederick Douglass Charter School:
The team of leaders who successfully turned around Young Scholars Charter School seeks qualified Operations Assistants for its second school. Young Scholars was matched with Frederick Douglass Elementary School through the School District of Philadelphia’s Renaissance School Initiative to take on the important work of turning around Frederick Douglass Elementary School. The Young Scholars team is proud to announce that Young Scholars Frederick Douglass Charter School will open for the 2010-2011 school year and is looking for qualified team members to join our efforts.
This is a unique opportunity to participate in the founding of a high-quality center of learning that will positively impact the lives of previously under-served elementary and middle school students.
The position of Operations Assistant will be crucial to the school’s success. The upholding the following responsibilities and qualifications will be required for successful candidates.
Responsibilities:
-Ordering, receiving, and distributing supplies and materials to ensure all instructional, student, and operational needs are met
-Inputting data and managing systems for student attendance, student fees, invoices, and other important information
-Addressing student and parent concerns in a professional, respectful, and timely manner
-Greeting and directing incoming visitors to the appropriate party
-Monitoring student behavior to ensure that it is always in line with the school’s high expectations
-Managing student files and information, maintaining confidentiality and compliance with all associated regulations and guidelines
-Managing and tracking lunch counts and school free, reduced, and paid lunch data in compliance with all regulations and guidelines
-Working with staff to execute smooth transitions from the school day to afterschool programs
-Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
-Commitment to school turnaround and closing the achievement gap
-Excellent computer skills (MS Office, Research, etc.)
-Strong organizational skills
-The ability to communicate effectively with parents
-The ability to work collaboratively in a non-traditional, inner-city environment
-A desire to interact and work well with elementary and middle school aged students
-The ability to hold students to a high standard of discipline and accountability at all times
-Demonstrated professionalism and responsibility
–the ability to lift and move boxes(10-15 lbs)
-The ability to problem-solve, a positive attitude, and a sense of humor are required!
