Open Meadows Foundation Invites Applications From Projects Benefitting Women and Girls
Deadline: August 15, 2007

Open Meadows Foundation (<a href="http://www.openmeadows.org/">http://www.openmeadows.org/</a>) is a grantmaking organization for projects that are led by and benefit women and girls.

The foundation offers grants of up to $2,000 each for projects that are designed and implemented by women and girls; reflect the diversity of the community served by the project in both its leadership and organization; promote building community power; promote racial, social, economic, and environmental justice; have limited financial access or have encountered obstacles in their search for funding.

In addition to its general grant fund, Open Meadows has six special funds that are targeted to specific groups and/or for specific activities: the Jeanne Meurer Indigenous Women’s Fund; the Ellen Dougherty Activist Fund for Young Women; the Edie Windsor Fund for Old Lesbians; the India Fund; the PatsyLu Fund for Women’s Music Projects; and the Susan F. Eastman Fund for Environmental Activists.

Organizations and individuals interested in applying must have 501(c)(3) tax-exempt status or a fiscal sponsor with tax-exempt status. Small and start-up organizations are strongly encouraged to apply. Organizations with a total organizational budget of more than $150,000 will not be considered. Preference is given to first-time applicants. Film and video projects will be considered only after the film/video is complete.

See the Open Meadows Foundation Web site for complete program information and application procedures.
