Office of Community Services Funding Conference
Posted by on February 28, 2004
The Office of Community Services (OCS) through its 2003 funding conference, ?Connecting the Community?, introduced our vision of helping to reshape how we address poverty in the 21st century. OCS is taking that vision to the next level, through its 2004 funding conference, ?Connecting the Community: Learning from the Past ? Informing the Future: 21st Century Solutions for addressing poverty. As we embark upon the 40th anniversary of America?s efforts to build the capacity of individuals and strengthen communities, it is appropriate that we honor that original commitment by rededicating America to this issue. This conference will bring together the brightest minds in America to share insights into how a comprehensive and integrated approach to addressing poverty might benefit individuals, families and communities.
* The Office of Community Services (OCS) is a program office with the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, Administration for Children and Families Division (ACF). ACF annually expends more than $48 billion on programs and initiatives to strengthen families and communities.
* The Office of Community Services administers 10 programs to build the capacity of low-income Americans and to strengthen communities.
* In 2004, the Office of Community Services will make available more than $110 million in funding opportunities.
