Observational Illustration: For More Than Art! (Penn Museum) – May 16
Posted by Penn Museum on May 2, 2023
Looking for ways to keep your students engaged during those last few weeks of school? Join us on Election Day to explore the importance of drawing and illustration to the sciences and take back some activities to try with your classes.
Before the invention of photography, scientific drawing and illustration were considered necessary skills: both for scholars to record their observations, and to later share their discoveries with the wider world. During this event, we will explore how drawing can be integrated into and enhance any subject lesson. We will conclude the day with a tour of the Museum Archives where we will see some beautiful examples of drawings and paintings from archaeological expeditions in the early 1900s.
