Nutrition Educator, Vetri Community Partnership

Vetri Community Partnership is seeking an engaging nutrition educator that will deliver Vetri Community Partnership cooking activities and represent the organization at public events. During cooking activities educators enthusiastically engage individuals, while cooking with participants or preparing simple vegetable-focused recipes in live demonstrations.

EAT360 Educators primarily teach students or caregivers and coordinate with staff in K-8 schools throughout Philadelphia. They implement programming in alignment with approved Pennsylvania Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (PA SNAP-Ed) activities. In addition to teaching, educators collaborate with community leaders to encourage positive health behaviors in school communities.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead cooking classes and cooking demonstrations; Deliver lesson plans in alignment with PA SNAP-Ed guidelines and current statements of work, and work independently to commit lesson plans to memory
  • Recruit adult participants for cooking classes and schedule programs (with input from supervisor) to be convenient for participants
  • Create respectful and engaging learning environments in which learners feel comfortable to participate
  • Stay current in SNAP-Ed topics
  • Prepare and lead cooking sessions or demonstrations for non-SNAP-Ed programming as directed. EAT360 Educators spend about 20 hours per year delivering on non SNAP-Ed programming
  • Coordinate with site liaisons and staff at assigned sites to plan cooking classes and other health promotion activities in alignment with the approved PA SNAP-Ed plan
  • Maintain and organize teaching equipment and facilities. Complete daily, weekly, monthly, annual care of cooking equipment stored at the VPC office and at any assigned sites
