This full‐time position works as part of a team of nutrition educators to conduct group and one‐on‐one nutrition education primarily in City of Philadelphia Department of Public Health Ambulatory Care Family Health Centers, PHMC Health Centers and other community settings. Nutrition education is based on the USDA Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program Education (SNAP‐Ed) Guidance.

Reports to Program Manager, Community‐Based Programs
Location: Home office 260 South Broad Street; works primarily in PDPH and PHMC Health Centers; some weekend and evening work required.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Conducts a series of group nutrition education classes and one‐on‐one nutrition education lessons based on SNAP‐Ed Guidance
Makes diet and physical activity recommendations to patients in accordance with USDA Dietary Guidelines for Americans
Works with nutrition education staff and partner organizations to effectively market program and recruit participants
Works with partner organizations and nutrition education team to collect and maintain records of all interventions, report data, and gather documentation according to program requirements
Works with Program Manager to maintain strong and positive relationships with program partners; serve as primary point of contact for staff at partner organizations
Develops and presents community presentations on food and nutrition education in sites such as community centers, churches, and schools, if requested
Staffs nutrition education information tables at health fairs
Participate in scheduled staff meetings
Other duties as assigned

SKILLS:

Proficient in use of MS Office, particularly Excel, Power Point, and Word, Internet and email
Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
Flexibility and strong organizational skills
Personal commitment to promoting and being a role model for healthy eating and physical activity

REQUIREMENTS:

Clear child abuse and criminal history check
Must be willing to travel locally
• Work Hours: Monday through Friday, 8:30 AM – 5:00 PM (Depending on site hours) flexibility needed for some evenings and weekends

EDUCATION REQUIREMENT:
Minimum BS or equivalent required, with concentration in nutrition or public health. MS, RD, DTR, or additional educational background or experience a plus
