Ewing Marion Kauffman Foundation invites applications for capacity building
The Ewing Marion Kauffman Foundation in Kansas City, Missouri, aims to provide access to opportunities that help people achieve financial stability, upward mobility, and economic prosperity—regardless of race, gender, or geography.
The foundation invites applications for its Capacity Building grants program, which is designed to strengthen the organizational capacity of 501(c)(3) nonprofit charity organizations by fostering sound leadership, strong boards, professional development for staff, technology, evaluation, strategic planning, communications, and sustainability.
The foundation’s Capacity Building grants program aims to support an organization’s focus on internal effectiveness and long-term stability. One-time, short-term grants will be awarded to charities that demonstrate a specific capacity gap and that are aligned with the foundation’s strategic priorities of college access and completion, workforce and career development, and entrepreneurship and focus areas of essential competencies and skills, education and employer connection, participation and belonging, and equitable access. Grants of between $100,000 and $250,000 will be awarded.
Examples of broad categories and specific organizational needs that may be eligible for grants include collaboration development, communications and marketing, data and evaluation capacity, financial planning and fundraising, human resource planning, information technology planning and cybersecurity, operating systems, pilot initiatives, special projects, strategic planning, and staff, board, and leadership development.
For complete program guidelines and application instructions, see the Ewing Marion Kauffman Foundation website.
