Next Teen Cafe: Race Culture and Mass Media (RCMM)

Youth Action Scholars is a group of 15 high school students who’ve completed a year in UCCP’s Temple Youth VOICES or the POWER Internship. As YAS, they develop, design and implement year-long peer education campaigns on issues of their choice. The 2009-10 groups have been focusing on Youth & Community Health, African American History Education and Political Awareness. They lead monthly Teen Cafes at Penrose Playground, which are 2-hour workshops for youth to learn from each other, have fun and eat healthy food. The announcement for the latest one is below:

Hello community partners and friends. The Youth Action Scholar group RCMM (Race Culture and Mass Media) is excited to invite you to our 4th Teen Cafe! Our Community education workshop is aimed at awakening the critical thought process. This month we will critically look at African American History in Philadelphia Schools.
Some come out:
Friday, January 29th from 4:30pm to 6:30pm at Penrose Playground at 12th and Susquehanna.
