Urban Institute unveils Understanding Poverty website
The share of Americans living in poverty jumped to 13.2 percent in 2008—up significantly from 12.5 percent the year before, according to a new analysis released by the US Census Bureau. For a family of four, this means making ends meet on less than $22,000 a year.
The Urban Institute has published an array of timely analyses that offer perspectives and insights into the circumstances of nearly 40 million poor men, women, and children in the US.
