New Website: Making Home Affordable

Website helps homeowners find mortgage assistance
The US Dept. of Housing & Urban Development has launched a new website, Making Home Affordable, to help homeowners determine their eligibility for new federal mortgage modification and refinancing programs.
Homeowners may complete online questionnaires to determine whether they are eligible for one of the two new federal programs established by the Homeowner Affordability and Stability Plan.
Through the website, homeowners can type in their addresses to find out whether their mortgages are owned by Fannie Mae or Freddie Mac, which is a requirement for eligibility for the refinance program. The site also features a clearinghouse of upcoming homeowner events held throughout the country for homeowners struggling to afford their mortgages, too.
