New Weatherization Website and Resources
Posted by on October 27, 2008
With a series of statewide energy summits, including one at the National Constitution Center in Philadelphia sponsored by United Way and the AFL-CIO, the state of Pennsylvania has launched the Turn Down-Seal Off-Save Up campaign to encourage conservation and weatherization this winter.
Current projections are that residential heating oil costs will rise more than 30% by next year. In the last seven years, the cost of heating oil has risen by 166%, of gas heat by 44%, and of electricity by 27%.
The Commonwealth has established a Turn-Seal-Save Hotline at 1-866-550-4355 along with a website (http://www.turnsealsave.org/). Visitors can also sign up for regular updates on the website by entering their email address at the bottom left corner of the webpage.
Listing of local resources are available here. http://www.turnsealsave.org/GET_HELP/LOCAL-HELP.HTML
The state Public Utilities Commission has also established a website urging natural gas consumers to Prepare Now.
Weatherization brochures in 17 different languages, prepared by United Way and the Energy Coordinating Agency, are available here.

The Public Utilities Commission has issued a letter to the CEOs of all electric and natural gas with an 11 point plan which has a heavy focus on low-income protections. You can read a copy of the letter here.
