Smart Growth is Smart Business: Boosting the Bottom Line and Community Prosperity, a new report published by the National Association of Local Government Environmental Professionals and the Smart Growth Leadership Institute, profiles 17 business groups that are profiting while working with government and nonprofit groups to revitalize communities and improve livability. Case studies examine the ties between business and community development, such as Whole Food Markets, which has developed a forward-looking strategy of locating stores in old neighborhoods to push revitalization.
