New Report: Service Learning and Comprehensive School Reform

SEVICE-LEARNING & EDUCATION

A new study from the American Youth Policy Forum (AYPF) reports that a majority of Comprehensive School Reform (CSR) models are compatible with numerous elements of service-learning, such as providing opportunities for students to apply their knowledge and skills to real-life situations, addressing local community issues and interests, and developing civic skills and competencies. The publication features survey findings, background on service-learning and CSR, summaries of the 28 school models, barriers to adoption and implementation of service-learning, and recommendations to policymakers on how to align the two education movements.
