Redistricting Reform: Partisan Politics & Your Right to Vote
This report details the redistricting and reform battles taking place in the states and ways for activists to get involved. This report also links to more resources from the experts and organizations in the fight.
Voting Rights groups are waging campaigns in states across the country for fair, impartial redistricting procedures. Unfortunately, the current process protects incumbents and the party in control of the state house. In some states, such as Texas and Georgia, the battle has become so partisan that politicians are mounting mid-decade redistricting efforts, called “revenge redistricting,” that will allow political parties newly in control of state legislatures to retain power instead of waiting until the next census.
We need fair, impartial procedures implemented for redistricting so our right to “one man, one vote” doesn’t get lost to partisan politics. Learn more and take action today.
