Congratulations to Mary Summers, Karen Wilson, and the entire staff of the Greater Philadelphia Coalition Against Hunger for this accomplishment!]
On June 6, in conjunction with Hunger Awareness Day, the Greater Philadelphia Coalition Against Hunger released a report, Making Food Stamps Work, that details current barriers to food stamp participation. Their Food Stamp Enrollment Campaign data indicate that only 53% of potentially-eligible clients are succeeding in applying for the Program and only 40% are successfully enrolling.
In conjunction with the release of this report, the Governor’s office announced new initiatives that will reduce barriers to food stamp participation. Both the report and the press release can be accessed at http://www.hungercoalition.org.
