New Report: Improving University Capacity to Support Communities
PHENND is pleased to announce the publication of a final report, commissioned as part of a multi-step evaluation of the Scholars in Service to Pennsylvania program. The report builds upon the previously released “Crisis Centers Open, Parks Beautified, Children Safe: University Student Volunteers in Pennsylvania Communities.” Both reports highlight the critical role that college an university student volunteers play in many nonprofit organizations across Pennsylvania.
In 2011, 35 institutions of higher education received a total of 244 AmeriCorps Education Awards, worth $286,113 in scholarship funding for PA students. SISPA volunteers recruited a total of 10,012 additional volunteers, and the state benefited from 144,395 total hours of volunteer service.
