Research into Action: Pathways to New Opportunities
Summary:
In 2008, the Greater Philadelphia Cultural Alliance set an ambitious goal of doubling that region’s cultural engagement in a dozen years. This report summarizes the data that is informing the Philadelphia region’s “Engage 2020” campaign to counteract the long-term decline in arts engagement, including a “cultural engagement index” that asks respondents about their involvement in 57 cultural activities. The index includes the levels of involvement of respondents according to age, life-stage, gender, education and ethnicity, thereby providing a rich resource for matching needs and resources.
