Hi COMM-ORG.
I am very pleased to announce the availability of a new COMM-ORG paper by Margaret Groarke:
Organizing Against Overfinancing: The Northwest Bronx Coalition Campaign Against Freddie Mac
Margaret tells the story of the famous Northwest Bronx Community and Clergy Coalition’s struggles to hold accountable the Federal Home Loan Mortgage Corporation. It is a classis David and Goliath tale with a happy ending and important lessons.
You can find the paper at the COMM-ORG “Papers” page, in the 2003 papers section:
http://comm-org.utoledo.edu/papers.htm
I hope that the paper inspires some discussion. Authors contribute papers to COMM-ORG in the hopes of getting comments, so please feel welcomed to contact Margaret directly or discuss her paper through the list.
I am also experimenting with a new format for the papers. If you run into any problems with the format, or have any aesthetic comments, please let me know.
Thanks so much to Margaret for contributing her work. And thanks to the Bronx County Historical Society Journal for allowing us to produce a web version of the paper.
