New MLK Day of Service Resources for 2005

On January 17, 2005, Americans across the country will celebrate the national holiday honoring the life and work of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. For the past decade, many of you have organized King Day service events and activities involving hundreds of thousands of Americans in honoring Dr. King?s dream. Once again, through your efforts this year, our nation will honor King?s legacy by meeting community needs and making the holiday ?a day on,? not ?a day off.?

We are pleased to introduce you to several new resources available at http://www.mlkday.org to assist you in planning and marketing your service events and gaining successful media coverage. As we strive to grow the celebration to include even more Americans, it?s important that we present a clear and consistent message to the public. We encourage you to use these tools to help link what?s happening in rural and urban communities to create a national picture of King Day.
